Day 1

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by a Helam tours representative and transferred by private vehicle to your lodge located on the outskirts of Arusha. The remainder of your day is at leisure.

Arusha Coffee Lodge is located on a coffee plantation on the outskirts of Arusha. Designed around the original plantation houses but completely renovated to achieve the highest standards of comfort, the décor is luxuriant and stylish with undertones of the bygone days of early exploration. Each of the 18 plantation houses has been lavishly furnished and features a split level living area and a private deck. The lodge also boasts a coffee shop, patisserie, conference facilities and a swimming pool.

Day 2

Early this morning you will be met by your private guide and transferred to Tarangire National Park on to Tarangire Tortilis camp where you will stay in the next two nights whilst in our customized safari vehicle, driving time is approximately 4-5 hours with game viewing en route. 

Arrive at the camp in time for lunch, our accommodation tonight will be at the Tarangire Tortilis Camp. Off the beaten track, and far from the park’s other camps and lodges, this is a great wilderness experience. The nearby Gursi swamplands ensure that warthog, zebra and other mammals are attracted to this area as they come to drink. After a long day, you can kick back, take a drink yourself and watch an unforgettable sunset.

Tarangire Tortilis is located around four magnificent specimens of the iconic baobab tree, which is characteristic of Tarangire National Park. Away from the noise of the busy park gates, this safari camp combines comfort with tranquility, a sense of freedom and being at one with nature.

You can be assured that you will be warmly welcomed by an enthusiastic team, keen to turn your stay here into something rather special. You’ll enjoy dinner tonight at the camp.

Day 3

This morning awaken to the sounds of the bush as a steaming hot cup of tea or coffee is served on your tent’s deck. The rest of the morning is at leisure to enjoy the activities on offer. Return to your camp where your hosts will greet you with a refreshing drink and a well-deserved lunch. The afternoon you have time to relax on your private deck with a cool drink and gaze out to the swamp and watch as the game lazily congregates in the shade to escape the midday sun. As the afternoon progresses you may like to return to the Tarangire on an afternoon game drive. Return to your lodge to freshen up before meeting around the campfire for a pre-dinner drink as you discuss the day’s adventures.

Day 4

After breakfast, this morning you will be driven to Lake Manyara National Park, arriving in time for lunch.  In the afternoon you will have a game drive before driving to the Ngorongoro Conservation where you will be staying at the Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp or Similar, subjected to availability.

Ngorongoro Tortilis Camp is only a 20km drive from the crater itself (around 40 minutes), set beneath an atmospheric acacia ‘umbrella,’ located in dense, sloping woodland and adjacent to a traditional Maasai community. Some will call the set-up here ‘glamping’, and it certainly offers a great level of comfort, considering the wilderness location. The nearby Ol Mote and Makarot mountains give it an added dimension, but it is the warm welcome of the staff which is the highlight for many of the visitors here. You’ll enjoy the team’s singing and dancing, perhaps you will even be tempted to join in. You can relax, have a drink, sit in front of the campfire, and listen to the sounds of the noisy tree hyraxes who live nearby. Then, enjoy dinner – and fall asleep, dreaming of the day’s highlights.

Day 5

Awaken early this morning to a warm cup of tea or coffee served on the veranda of your room. After a hearty breakfast, you can enjoy the activities on offer: Game drives in the Ngorongoro crater and on the rim, and a Masai village visit and bush meals. Enjoy game viewing with the spectacular backdrop of the crater wall at every turn. This great caldera is home to around 30,000 animals with a high concentration of predators. Zebras and wildebeest account for almost half the animals with plenty of gazelle, buffalo, hartebeest, warthog and bull elephants. On the lake in the middle of the crater, you may see thousands of flamingos fluttering and shimmering like a pink heat haze. Return to lodge/camp this afternoon with time for a hot shower before pre-dinner drinks by the campfire as you discuss the day’s adventures.

Day 6

This morning proceed with road transfer to the Serengeti depending on where the famous wildebeest migration is located through the Serengeti with game viewing en route. 

Serengeti, the incomparable wonder of Tanzania, will be the stage for the natural animal theatrics which will be performed over the next two days. Your game drive here combines the known with the unknown, the certainty that you will be amazed with the uncertainty of exactly what you will see and when. Changing light, a changing cast of animal actors, ensuring that at every turn there is a new experience. Snap off some memorable photos, but don’t forget to simply take a deep breath and enjoy nature in its real-time, raw beauty.

Accommodation is offered in tents which are scattered around the Serengeti Plains.

Serengeti Tortilis Camp is superbly situated, a wilderness experience like no other. This is what some call ‘glamping,’ with a high degree of comfort in the heart of this famous National Park. The team here is totally dedicated to your enjoyment, providing the warmest of welcomes which might include a bit of singing and dancing: bring your sense of rhythm! You may not be alone here, as the wildlife like to roam freely amongst the tents. But don’t worry, our staff will keep you safe. Enjoy a drink at our outdoor ‘fireplace’ while listening to the calls of the wild.

Then, feast yourselves on a truly superb dinner and your driver-guide will discuss the plans for the next day’s itinerary in the Serengeti. Afterwards, review the photos that have captured the day’s highlights, before falling asleep to get ready for another day of adventure.

Day 7

Today you may choose to either partake in a full day game drive into the heart of the Serengeti with a picnic lunch or remain close to camp with morning and afternoon game drives.

Day 8

Enjoy a leisurely morning relaxing at camp or venture out early on one last morning game drive before transferring to Arusha by road or to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight to Kilimanjaro or Zanzibar via Arusha. Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro connect with your onward flight.
