Due to its isolation, the path is less busy and provides hikers with a rare opportunity to enjoy nature and view large animals like antelope, elephants, and buffalo. You are less likely to experience rain and have clearer views of the top since there usually is less moisture on this side of the mountain. We normally recommend the 7-day version for better acclimatization and a more interesting route.
One of the simpler ascent routes for Kilimanjaro is the Rongai path. The only way to climb Kilimanjaro from the north is via Rongai, and the Marangu Route is the only way to descend. The summit night route from Kibo Hut is difficult and travels along the same route as the Marangu route.
