3 Days Wildebeest Calving Season Safari
Overview
Experience the first steps of one of nature’s most grueling and fascinating journeys as you witness the calving season. Calving season marks the beginning of this movement that sees millions of animals make the difficult journey from the southern Serengeti to the distant Maasai Mara.
On your Three-day calving season safari you’ll visit Tarangire National Park, travel to the border of southern Serengeti and Ngorongoro Conservation Area to see the Wildebeest Migration calving region of Ndutu, and finish your tour with a visit to the stunning Ngorongoro Crater. If your timing is right, you might even get to see the first steps of this vast herd’s northward movement.
Itinerary in Details
Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Early morning after breakfast, pick up from the hotel in Arusha town with your packed lunch box and drive to Tarangire National Park for game drive/viewing. Dinner and overnight at Manyara.
Day 2: Game Drive Around Ndutu Plains
Depart after breakfast for a game drive in the Ndutu plains area which borders the Southern Serengeti plains. The great wildebeest migration is currently concentrated around this area from early December to mid-May and we hope you will be able to view this magic spectacle. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Wake up early morning for breakfast then at 0700hrs descend into the Crater floor for game drives. Your lunch will be served at the picnic site in the Crater near Lerai Forest or the Hippo pool. After lunch proceeds with game viewing in the Crater, Evening drive back to Arusha.
